Bead Show

Isn’t this a great necklace.  I made it.  Yes I bead too.  Let me tell you the story about how this came to be.

I have been looking for a dress to wear to my son’s wedding.  And when I say looking I mean loooooooooking.  I have been everywhere.  (Well not to the bridal stores yet, but everywhere else)  My friend, Joan, says she saw one at Macy’s that she thinks is it.  Now remember I have been to three Macys already.  So off we go and yes THERE IT IS!!! In my size and it looks good.  Yeah!!!

Now there is a Bead Show this weekend, but we had decided not to attend and not spend any more money on beads right now.  Well, now I had the dress and I needed the correct color pearls to go with the dress and the Bead Lady (as we affectionately call her) would be at the show and there isn’t another show until after the wedding.

Off we go.  I don’t know if you bead or not, but you cannot just buy a specific bead.  You must buy LOTS of beads.  It’s the law of beading.

I found these larger pearls and thought they would be great for dressy and not so dressy.  I love them.  I made them just the right length and the colors go with a lot of stuff I wear.  (I did have trouble with the crimping, but, well, crimping is an issue with me.  Let’s just hope when I make my wedding necklace it doesn’t fall off.)

Let me know how you like it or not (but how could you not?)

High Five Friday!!!!!

It’s FRIDAY!!!! And a holiday weekend no less!  Here’s my High Five for the week.

1.  New Stampin Up Catalog came.  Oh such goodness.

2.  Got the grocery shopping done.  There is finally food in the house.

3. My husband bought his own Father’s Day gift so I know he got what he wanted.

4. I got bangs.  (Well really that happened last Friday, but hey, you didn’t know).

5. Saw some friends who work in another office that I have not seen in a while!

Let me know your High Five.  This is FUN.  And we all need to be grateful for our lives and this is a good and fun way to do it.

Talk to you soon.

Card From Scrapbook Convention

ImageThis is a card I made with a Cuttlebug Folder I purchased at the Scrapbook Convention.  I used a technique I learned from Stamp TV.  If you have never been over to that site, you need to go.  She has a lot of useful information and some wonderful stuff for sale. lol

To do this, you ink up one side of your folder using a brayer or your ink pad.  (I just used the ink pad)  Each side of the folder, will produce a different image, so experiment.

I think it is great and plan on using it a lot.  It’s like letterpress only easier.  The paper in the card is Stampin Up and the word phrase is from Gina K stamps. (I told you they had lots of great stuff.)

Hope you like it.

High Five Friday

Over at the blog I read religiously (The Small Things), she does a High Five Friday.  I love it.  I will post the tag (is that what it is called) once I figure out how do.  You should check her out as well, especially if you have hair issues.  She does all sorts of tutorials on hair.  IT IS GREAT!!!!

But I digress: This is my version of it (hers is much more sophisticated and mine will be in a while, maybe a year or so).

1.  I drove this week.  I was worried because of the hand in the bandage.  Didn’t like it all that much but it got better.  My DH wanted to know why I could not drive with one hand.  DUH!!

2.  I had dinner with my son and his fiance.  It was so nice.  I got them as he was leaving work and since he had to practically come by my house he had to say yes and he felt sorry for me because I was alone.

3.  My friend, Joan, was, and has been, very nice during the two week period and she stamped with me.  Basically she did everything and I applied the adhesive and stucked the paper together, but it was fun and we always laugh.

4.  I got the sutures and bandage off and all is well.  I can use my hand and I must say I feel very little numbness and since that was the purpose of the surgery YEAH.

5.  And finally, my friend, Lisa, was a great listener yesterday when I had a problem and was very supportive to me.  It’s nice to have friends.

Now you play along and tell me your High Fives for the week!!!

Reading

Let’s talk what you are reading today.  I recently read The Lincoln Lawyer.  Really good.  Did not see the movie, but I hear it was good.  Anyone else.

Now I am reading the Mirror Room.  It is a true story about a bridal salon in the MidWest.  The Mirror Room is the room where brides go to look at themselves once they have choosen their gowns.  It sounded like it was going to be a sweet book about brides choosing their dresses and the special moment.  However, there are a lot of statistics on marriage and the marrying age and stuff like that.  It is written by a man.  Just saying.

So what are you reading.  What do you want to read.  What is out there enticing you?
